Full Time - Ongoing Subject to Funding

Due to a recent increase in funding, the Murray Mallee Community Legal Service is seeking to recruit a Specialist Family Violence Solicitor. This position is based in Mildura and travel is required.

The Murray Mallee Community Legal Service (MMCLS) provides service delivery to the Northern and Southern Mallee of Victoria and South West New South Wales. The Community Legal Service offers free, confidential legal advice, information, referral, casework, community legal education and engages in law reform activities.
The Specialist Family Violence Solicitor works to support victims of family violence by providing information, advice, legal education, casework and court representation for family violence, family law and relevant legal matters. The position may also assist with family violence days through the Intervention Order Support Service program.  The solicitor will be co-located within the Mallee Sexual Assault Unit/Mallee Domestic Violence Service (MSAU/MDVS) in Mildura whilst also attending the main MMCLS office in Mildura at other times. Travel to local courts; Mildura, Robinvale, Wentworth, Swan Hill and Kerang across the MMCLS catchment may be required along with attendance at MSAU/MDVS outreach sites.

The successful applicant will be required to hold an accredited qualification relevant to the position with a current practicing certificate as a solicitor of the Supreme Court Victoria, and will be expected to have specific knowledge required to undertake a specialist role within the organisation and experience in both family violence and family law casework.
